I came across this strange fungus growing out of a log while hiking in the Minnesota river valley.
The view west from Telescope Peak stretches across both Panamint Valley, Owens Valley and over to the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
Here’s an old Bristlecone pine tree off the Telescope Peak trail. Some of the trees in the area are reported to be 4,000 years of age. I was quite pleased with the opportunity to photograph the mountain side at sunrise.

I have always thought Badlands National Park was like an alien landscape in appearance so I decided to edit my photo to look like one. Remove all remnants of Earth’s blue atmosphere and you get a martian landscape.
